Instagram food etc.

It would seem i've fallen into the instagram food trap. Instagram app trap. you see, I am one of those people. I like to connect with others through food, people who i possibly will never meet, people who dream and drool over food constantly, eat bountifully from their own gardens, witches in the kitchen spreading the carefully scatted supergreen, wholefood amalgamation alchemy. i do love it. It means i can gleefully share a comment with the likes of My New Roots and Earthsprout, Nirrimi and Mexico and try to somehow stick my bare toe into their world. It fills a little space.

at the same time, i thought i'd join in with Pip and Kate in this little tag-along.

Making : mustard beanies, a cabled sweater for myself in dove grey.
Cooking : a raw cashew dreamcake. tomorrow.
Drinking : green juice with garden add-ins. cannot get enough.
Reading: my travel journal from last year. yearning.
Wanting: a forest to envelop me and fill my ears with the depth of nature.

Waiting: For my Broad Bean flowers to become edibles.
Liking: The early morning frosted sunlight of late Winter.
Wondering: What the upcoming federal election will bring.
Loving: Shopping for dry goods at Terre Madre each week.
Hoping: The Greens win the election (it can be a far-fetched hope, right?)
Marvelling: At the moon's constant wax and wane, drawing time along with it.
Needing: shoes. All of mine leak.
Smelling: Like coconut oil every day and loving it!
Wearing: Layers of handknits. Go granny!
Following: The bloggers who fill me with joy and inspiration.

Lately in the kitchen

'Embrace the current season of your life' - Gabrielle Blair

I have been in the kitchen lately more often than is advised for exam period. period.
I'm not stressed though, the joys of being surrounded by ingredients and implements is far too great to deny myself. My kitchen has seen in the past month: yogurt, almond butter, hazelnut/almond butter, many truffles of the healthy(ish) kind, so many smoothies and juices i could never, ever count, cakes from the pulp of juices  inspired by this page of a friend (1 juice's worth of pulp, 3 eggs, 1 cup rye flour, 1tps baking powder, 1tbsp honey, some soy/almond/milk milk, almond meal from almond milk if you like, cook at 180 fan forced until clean skewer), dehydrated seed crackers (which took a whopping 50 hours to dry! - recipe here), raw brownie yum, and you know, the usual dinners etcetera. I love the kitchen, oh yes I do!

new wool love!

 hanging herbs a-drying!
red juice pulp cake and red juice
 smoothie map
new veg from Petty's Orchard, almond butter. (roasted almonds - blend until they release enough oils)
 leaves
 fruit!
chopping herbs for seed crackers with dad's knife (my fave, I have a baby one! from John Hounslow)
seeeeeeedy cracker mix. I forgot to take a picture of the actual crackers. they were so good!

Winter Poem

a little winter poem i wrote in Whistler, BC as the cold was setting in.

The Larch
bared wintry against my window
The Lark
soft burst of downy darkness
The Last
bittered leaf curls to the pavement
The Larkspur
breathes close to the earth, trying to warm.

My Etsy Shop

This morning I knuckled down and did it - I photographed some more of my things to sell on Etsy. I loved playing around with the paraphernalia on my inspiration table, using the colours and greyish morning light in harmony with the various knitteds and sewns of my Shop.
There's a link on the side of my blog, and here's another (Etsy Shop). yay.

of late

This new Osteo student is plumb-tuckered out.
My days are stacked high with scientific nomenclature and body-marking pencils. I'm full to the brim but excited. The philosophy of Osteopathy is beautiful (in my understanding): the observation and gentle manipulation of the bones and muscles to help restore the body to it's natural healthful state. at the moment, it is mainly understanding base science to build knowledge and memorising of terminology associated with anatomy and physiology. Wonderful stuff.
because most of my hours are filled with the above, I'm trying to squeeze my creative bursts around it as best i can. a little pair of angora socks on the needles for fun. food-making has been successful with 'chocolate and nut things', 'grain-free granola (this recipe)' and more smoothies. I made a coffee scrub from coarse coffee, sugar, salt, coconut oil and chamomile flowers. Today i set up a corner of my bedroom as a fossicking/designing/mess table. My art is on the walls, microgreens growing like crazy on my balcony, morning latte is a welcome ritual as is my frosty, half-dark walk to the bus each day - a beautiful chaos.

Lately

I did a yellow dye wash yesterday, it made me so happy to see all those butter-sunshine yellow clothes and fabric on the washing line. Everything is made prettier with a yellow dye.
I finished knitting a cowl which will be available in my etsy shop (link) when I update it eventually ;)
These moonbeads I made yesterday, will also be going into the shop if you're at all interested. such fun.
